Pangenome graphs as a new paradigm in comparative genomics
Pangenome graphs are a novel approach to the problem of representing the genomic diversity present in a population. Instead of describing genomes in a linear fashion, as is done conventionally, pangenome graphs represent population diversity as a network, compacting similar sequences and implicitly encoding variation. In this session, we will discuss different types of pangenome graphs and their applications, as well as tools developed by our group that leverage pangenome graphs to improve the accuracy of conventional bioinformatics tasks.
