MetaboLights is a comprehensive, open-access repository for metabolomics studies and their associated metadata. It archives experimental metadata, raw and processed data, and detailed information about metabolites investigated in each study. The resource supports a wide range of species and analytical platforms, including mass spectrometry (MS) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), and promotes community standards to ensure high-quality, reusable data.

MetaboLights captures rich experimental descriptions using standardized formats, enabling FAIR reporting of study design, protocols, and analytical workflows. In addition to housing complete metabolomics datasets, it links to metabolite reference information and supports integration with other bioinformatics resources, facilitating data discovery and cross-domain research.

This webinar will offer technical guidance for the submission of metabolomics datasets to the MetaboLights repository, emphasising essential metadata standards and best practices for managing and depositing time-series omics data in food fermentation studies. The session will also showcase strategies to enhance dataset interoperability, visibility, and long-term reusability.

This webinar is organised as part of the FAIRferm project under the Biodiversity, Food Security and Pathogens (BFSP) Priority Area of the ELIXIR Scientific Programme 2024–2028.
