Applications of artificial intelligence for biosciences in Latin America
Date: 17 October - 25 November 2025
This webinar series builds on a newly developed curriculum on concepts, approaches, and applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in biosciences. The series explores how AI and machine learning are being applied to biosciences research across Latin America. Researchers from Costa Rica, Argentina, and Mexico will share their experiences working with AI tools (such as AlphaFold), and discuss their applications in various fields, including biomedicine, metagenomics, and agriculture.
This webinar series is part of the BiotrAIn project, a collaboration between University of Costa Rica, CABANAnet and EMBL-EBI, funded by the Chan Zuckerberg initiative.
A bilingual series
This webinar series includes two webinars delivered in English and three in Spanish. For each webinar, captions in English and Spanish will be provided. All automatically generated captions will be reviewed by bilingual experts in the field, unless stated otherwise.
BiotrAIn Hub and Spokes course
We are currently inviting applications for the next BiotrAIn course “Concepts, approaches, and applications of artificial intelligence in bioscience”. This five-day programme will be delivered simultaneously across seven Latin American classroom locations, introducing AI and machine learning techniques for biological sciences. For more details on the program and how to apply to one of the classroom locations, you can visit the dedicated page.
