  • ELIXIR CZ Artificial Intelligence in Life Sciences I

    26 - 27 October 2020

    Prague, Czechia

    Elixir node event
ELIXIR CZ Artificial Intelligence in Life Sciences I https://tess.elixir-europe.org/events/elixir-cz-artificial-intelligence-in-life-sciences-i This workshop will provide a basic introduction to machine learning and its application in Life Sciences, with a special focus on molecular and cell biology. Data-driven approaches penetrate various scientific disciplines, including the fields of biology, biochemistry and biotechnology. Novel technologies of high-throughput data collection and advanced data analysis, such as deep neural networks, offer exceptional opportunities for the development of very complex and accurate mathematical models. The theoretical lectures will cover main methods, algorithms and technologies, illustrate their use in biology and biochemistry research using real-life examples. Hands-on practicals will provide participants with essential skills for the application of machine learning methods and software tools for solving problems in Life Sciences. We plan to continue in our effort to organize follow-ups of this meeting and focus on challenging issues in life science disciplines approachable by AI technology. 2020-10-26 11:00:00 UTC 2020-10-27 14:00:00 UTC ELIXIR CZ, IOCB, FNUSA – ICRC, University of West Bohemia Flemingovo nám. 542, 542, Flemingovo náměstí, Prague, Czechia Flemingovo nám. 542, 542, Flemingovo náměstí Prague Hlavní město Praha Czechia 166 10 [] https://www.elixir-czech.cz/events/elixir-cz-artificial-intelligence-in-life-sciences-oct-2020 [] [] 75 workshops_and_courses first_come_first_served Artificial Intelligencemachine learningDrug design
  • Emerging Technologies in Single Cell research

    19 - 20 November 2020

    Leuven, Belgium

Emerging Technologies in Single Cell research https://tess.elixir-europe.org/events/emerging-technologies-in-single-cell-research Biomedical research is at a turning point. Single cell technologies are opening extraordinary opportunities to address today’s medical challenges. These new tools will enhance our molecular understanding of functional cell states. They will give us major insights into when, how and why diseases of all kinds arise. Working at the cutting edge of this field, VIB has teamed up with LifeTime, a pan-European research initiative that wants to combine single-cell multi-omics, advanced imaging, artificial intelligence/machine learning and personalized disease models to fundamentally change the current medical practice. At the first edition of Emerging Technologies in Single Cell research, a two-day conference, VIB and LifeTime will bring together top researchers in the fields of multi-omics and artificial intelligence. Travel Grants We offer 5 travel grants to international attendees, which will reimburse travel costs up to 400 Euros. Are you interested in attending SingleCell20 and want to have a chance on a travel grant? Submit your motivation below by clicking on the 'Apply for a grant' button before 27 September 2020. The organizing committee will notify you of your travel grant acceptance by the end of June. No registration is needed before submitting a travel grant proposal. When you’re awarded with a travel grant you will receive a practical email containing the next steps. Note that being awarded a travel grant does not mean being registered for the conference. • LIPID MAPS Spring School

    12 - 16 April 2021

    Cardiff, United Kingdom

LIPID MAPS Spring School https://tess.elixir-europe.org/events/lipid-maps-spring-school This Spring School will focus on theoretical and practical aspects of lipidomics, using state-of-the-art approaches. There will be a major focus on the underlying biology and biochemistry of lipids, including their roles in health and disease. There will be 20+ sessions over 5 days, topics include neutral lipids, fatty acids, eicosanoids, sphingolipids, sterols and bile acids. An introduction to MS-based lipidomics will cover all aspects from sample preparation, storage, chromatography, instrumentation, and identification using databases including LIPID MAPS. There will be a dedicated session on novel technologies, such as iKnife, REIMS, imaging, and new standards for quantitation. This will be alongside practical tutorials on software and informatics tools for lipidomics. An introduction into data integration using biostatistics and systems biology, to include lipid 2021-04-12 09:00:00 UTC 2021-04-16 17:00:00 UTC Cardiff University Park Plaza Cardiff, Greyfriars Road, Cardiff, United Kingdom Park Plaza Cardiff, Greyfriars Road Cardiff United Kingdom CF10 3AL [] [] Early Career Researcher [] [] lipidomics
