OpenMS / CIBI Plant Proteomics and Metabolomics Training - Part 4
Date: 19 - 20 February 2026
Timezone: Brussels
Educators:
Samuel Wein, Tjeerd Dijkstra, Tom Müller, David Tabb (CIBI)
Date:
February 19 and 20, 2026
Location:
In person at University of Mpumalanga Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Sciences, Mbombela, South Africa
Contents:
This course highlights the technologies of metabolomics and proteomics for plant biotechnology. Equal time will be given to lectures and hands-on exercises. Topics include an introduction to biological liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS), biostatistics for mass spectrometry, targeted and untargeted methods for metabolomics, quantitation in LC-MS/MS, gene ontology enrichment analysis, and web resources for plant molecular biology.
Learning goals:
Participants will improve their theoretical understanding of mass spectrometry for plant biology as well as their skills at using OpenMS and other bioinformatics resources.
Prerequisites:
Participants should bring laptops to be able to carry out this training on their own computers. Prior to the training, we recommend that students try to install the R statistical environment and OpenMS 3.5 on their laptops in case they need administrator passwords for this process.
