    27 - 30 September 2016

    Oeiras, Portugal

PM16 Precision medicine https://tess.elixir-europe.org/events/pm16-precision-medicine The implementation of cancer genomics into the clinic is becoming a reality. Personalized medicine or Precision medicine as other authors refers, uses molecular data of a specific patient to guide clinical decisions such as prevention, diagnosis and treatment. This will revolutionize healthcare and will play a dominant role in the future of cancer therapy. Bioinformatics analyses are essential to identify patients who will benefit from treatment based on their molecular profile, and to tailor chemotherapeutic regimens accordingly. The aim of the course is to present a complete computational pipeline for the analysis and interpretation of Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) data such as exome sequencing or targeted panels that are commonly used in the clinic. We will address the implementation of large-scale genomic sequencing in clinical practice and the recently developed computational strategies for the analysis of NGS data with a particular emphasis on the interpretation of the results, selection of biomarkers of drug response and afford opportunities to match therapies with the characteristics of the individual patient's tumour. Exercises and case studies focused on cancer will be used to illustrate the principles of how genetics influence led to refining diagnoses and personalized treatment of cancer disease. 2016-09-27 09:00:00 UTC 2016-09-30 00:00:00 UTC Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência, Oeiras, Portugal Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência Oeiras Portugal 901 [] [] [] workshops_and_courses [] PersonalizedMedicine

    28 February 2018

CWLEXEC: Run Common Workflow Language on HPC with IBM Spectrum LSF https://tess.elixir-europe.org/events/cwlexec-a-new-open-source-tool-to-run-cwl-workflows-on-lsf The [Common Workflow Language (CWL)](http://www.commonwl.org/) is a community-led specification for describing analysis _workflows_ and tools in a way that makes them portable and scalable across a variety of software and hardware environments, from workstations to cluster, cloud, and _high performance computing_ (HPC) environments. [IBM Spectrum LSF](https://www.ibm.com/us-en/marketplace/hpc-workload-management) (formerly IBM Platform LSF) is a complete workload management solution for demanding HPC environments. Featuring intelligent, policy-driven scheduling, it helps organizations accelerate research and design while controlling costs through superior resource utilization. Recognizing the popularity of CWL among LSF users, we introduce a new open source project **CWLEXEC** to support running CWL workflows on LSF. The project will feature smooth integration with LSF with high efficiency and scalability, self-healing of workflows, support user-specified submission options while keeping CWL definitions portable, and other benefits. * **Title**: CWLEXEC: A new open source tool to run CWL workflows on LSF * **Presenter:** Qingda Wang, Principal Architect, IBM Spectrum LSF Family Products and OEM * **Time**: 2018-02-28 14:00 GMT / 15:00 CET 2018-02-28 14:00:00 UTC 2018-02-28 15:00:00 UTC BioExcel Bioinformatics Genomics Workflows University of ManchesterBioExcel CoE Stian Soiland-Reyes http://ask.bioexcel.eu/ [] bioinformaticiansHPC users workshops_and_courses registration_of_interest WorkflowsCWLHPCLSF

Regulatory Oxylipins https://tess.elixir-europe.org/events/regulatory-oxylipins-661da9dc-2159-4a34-8809-7851dfbe0b8a Oxylipins, from plants and other organisms, form a constantly growing group of signalling molecules that comprise oxygenated fatty acids and their metabolites. The most renowned regulatory oxylipins are undoubtedly the jasmonates, which, following their discovery in the 1960s, became recognized as regulators of defence, floral organ development and fertility, as growth inhibitors and modulators of senescence, and as elicitors of specialized metabolism in numerous plant species. As such, the jasmonates currently belong to an elite group of heavily investigated phytohormones. Over the last decade, the understanding of biosynthesis, metabolism, and action of regulatory oxylipins has greatly advanced. The ROXY2019 meeting wishes to bring together the international community and leading researchers in the field. Thereby it aims to provide a timely and exciting forum to present and discuss the recent advances and expertise on the study of these molecules that are so crucial for plant growth, development, metabolism, and interaction with the environment. There will be seven plenary sessions that, through combining lectures from invited speakers and short talks on selected abstracts and posters, will highlight the various aspects involved in Regulatory Oxylipin research. These sessions cover the following major themes: Regulatory oxylipins in emerging model systems and non-plant systems, Biochemistry and structural biology, Control of growth and defence, Control of Metabolism, Reproduction, Jasmonate signalling mechanisms and Long-distance signalling, Ecology. We look forward to your contributions to make this an exciting conference. See you in Gent! 15 June 2019

    Sweden

Open Targets Genetics at ESHG https://tess.elixir-europe.org/events/workshop-at-eshg In this workshop, we will introduce Open Targets Genetics Portal as part of the Open Targets ecosystem, highlighting variant-centric statistical evidence for prioritizing candidate causal variants at trait-associated loci, and identifying potential drug targets. We will present POSTGAP, a pipeline which merges genetic associations curated from literature with functional genomics, epigenetic and expression data (e.g., eQTL, promoter capture Hi-C, DNase hypersensitivity sites, regulatory elements) to resolve association signals at a locus and link each variant to its target gene(s) using a single evidence score. The portal also incorporates pre-computed fine-mapping at trait-associated loci across hundreds of UK Biobank phenotypes as well as cross-trait colocalization, furthering drug repurposing opportunities. This workshop will enable you to effectively use Open Targets Genetics to gain biological insight, prioritize genes, and inform target decision-making. Intended Audience: Attendees interested in the translational application of genetics and genomics with an emphasis on the identification of target genes of trait-associated loci, drug target identification, prioritisation and repurposing. Participants should bring their laptops for exploration of the Open Targets Genetics Portal in situ. 2019-06-15 09:00:00 UTC 2019-06-15 00:00:00 UTC Gothenburg, Sweden Gothenburg Sweden [] [] [] workshops_and_courses [] Open Targets
