    RNA-Seq using R https://tess.elixir-europe.org/events/rna-seq-using-r The Monash Bioinformatics Platform want to help make introductory bioinformatic approaches part of the research landscape in Biomedicine. To do this, a foundation level of expertise amongst as many researchers as possible is an important step forward. The platform will then be available to facilitate this work as well as develop more advanced bioinformatic projects with our researchers. We are running a two day hands-on workshop with a focus on enabling researchers to be able to analyse RNASeq (next-gen sequencing) data. Day 1, we will begin by teaching an introduction to programming using the R language. Day 2 will focus on using this knowledge to perform bioinformatic data analysis of some RNASeq data. Day one (Programming in R) is optional, for those well-versed in the R programming language, or programming in general. The workshop will be taught in a similar style to Software Carpentry workshops. Software Carpentry's mission is to help scientists and engineers get more research done in less time and with less pain by teaching them basic lab skills for scientific computing.     Data Interpretation and Reporting with R https://tess.elixir-europe.org/events/data-interpretation-and-reporting-with-r This hands-on workshop will introduce users of the R software environment to the techniques involved in generating reproducible, dynamic data analyses and reports. Using literate programming approaches, participants will learn to build automated reusable reports in R. Practical exercises will include integration and manipulation of datasets, generation of summary statistics about a dataset, and how to produce high-quality tables and charts. Recommended participants Biologists and bioinformaticians wishing to structure and interpret data and generate dynamic reports using R. Prior expertise with R and the command line interface is required, to a level equivalent of that provided by the QFAB workshop “Introduction to R”. What will I learn?     Differential Gene Expression Analysis with R (microarray and NGS) https://tess.elixir-europe.org/events/differential-gene-expression-analysis-with-r-microarray-and-ngs This hands-on workshop will introduce users of the R software environment to the specific skills and applications used in the analysis of microarray and next-generation sequencing (NGS) data. Practical exercises will include quality control and normalisation of data for differential gene expression, and linking genomic information to external public datasets. Recommended participants Biologists and bioinformaticians wishing to use R for RNA expression analysis. Prior expertise with R and the command line interface is required, to a level equivalent of that provided by the QFAB workshop “Introduction to R”. What will I learn?
