  • Computational approaches to the study of protein interactions and rational drug design

    10 - 14 April 2017

    Padova, Italy

Computational approaches to the study of protein interactions and rational drug design https://tess.elixir-europe.org/events/computational-approaches-to-the-study-of-protein-interactions-and-rational-drug-design In this workshop, participants will familiarise with docking approaches to the study of protein-protein interactions (PPIs) and protein-small molecule interactions. Irreversible binders design using molecular docking and computational methods to rational drug design will be also described, as well as the functional role of the intrinsically disordered proteins. The Plenary lectures of N. Davey (10.02.2017), A. Bonvin, S. Forli and S. Moro (11.02.2017) will be open and free to everyone but require application. Practical sessions are limited to 30 participants. On the afternoon of day 3, participants can bring their own data (e.g. proteins they want to study interactions for). They will be split in groups based on the type of system they want to study (i.e protein-protein, protein-small ligand interactions or virtual screening) and will analyse it assisted by A. Bonvin and S. • FEBS Course: Advanced methods for protein crystallization in 2018

    11 - 16 June 2018

    Nové Hrady, Czechia

FEBS Course: Advanced methods for protein crystallization in 2018 https://tess.elixir-europe.org/events/febs-course-advanced-methods-for-protein-crystallization-in-2018 The practical crystallization course is in fact the eighth run of the FEBS practical courses named "Advanced methods in macromolecular crystallization", organized since 2004 at the Academic and University Center at Nove Hrady (Czech Republic). The planned course (for undergraduate, postgraduate students and postdocs with an interest in macromolecular crystallization) is rather different from the established courses in protein crystallization. The course is designed to bring over the message of the benefits of more rational approaches to macromolecular crystallization and is aimed at a healthy mixture of advanced theoretical discussions and laboratory experiments. To achieve this goal, we have invited a number of prominent experts in the field as a teachers and tutors. The course is designed to bring over the message of the benefits of more rational approaches to macromolecular crystallization. It consists of theoretical lectures, seminars as well as practical work and demonstrations (lectures 40%, practical work 50%, seminars 10%). For crystallization experiments, typical recipes using commercial proteins will be used. In addition, students can bring their own proteins and carry out crystallization trials on these during the course. A poster section is planned in order to encourage participants to present their own work. Nove Hrady is located in the south of the Czech Republic. The Academic and University Center resides in a very styleful chateau, which provides many facilities such as two lecture halls, laboratories, apartments and a student dormitory. 2018-06-11 09:00:00 UTC 2018-06-16 18:00:00 UTC FEBS, Academic and University Center at Nove Hrady Lock New Castle, Zámek, Nové Hrady, Czechia Lock New Castle, Zámek Nové Hrady České Budějovice Czechia Structural biology FEBSAcademic and University Center at Nove Hrady FEBS Undergraduate studentsPhD studentspostdocs workshops_and_courses [] protein structure

    15 June 2019

    Sweden

Open Targets Genetics at ESHG https://tess.elixir-europe.org/events/workshop-at-eshg In this workshop, we will introduce Open Targets Genetics Portal as part of the Open Targets ecosystem, highlighting variant-centric statistical evidence for prioritizing candidate causal variants at trait-associated loci, and identifying potential drug targets. We will present POSTGAP, a pipeline which merges genetic associations curated from literature with functional genomics, epigenetic and expression data (e.g., eQTL, promoter capture Hi-C, DNase hypersensitivity sites, regulatory elements) to resolve association signals at a locus and link each variant to its target gene(s) using a single evidence score. The portal also incorporates pre-computed fine-mapping at trait-associated loci across hundreds of UK Biobank phenotypes as well as cross-trait colocalization, furthering drug repurposing opportunities. This workshop will enable you to effectively use Open Targets Genetics to gain biological insight, prioritize genes, and inform target decision-making. Intended Audience: Attendees interested in the translational application of genetics and genomics with an emphasis on the identification of target genes of trait-associated loci, drug target identification, prioritisation and repurposing. Participants should bring their laptops for exploration of the Open Targets Genetics Portal in situ. 2019-06-15 09:00:00 UTC 2019-06-15 00:00:00 UTC Gothenburg, Sweden Gothenburg Sweden [] [] [] workshops_and_courses [] Open Targets

  • The Brain Mosaic: Cellular heterogeneity in the CNS (2nd edition)

    10 - 11 October 2019

    Leuven, Belgium

The Brain Mosaic: Cellular heterogeneity in the CNS (2nd edition) https://tess.elixir-europe.org/events/the-brain-mosaic-cellular-heterogeneity-in-the-cns-2nd-edition Recent advances in technology now allow us to explore multiple aspects of heterogeneity at the single cell level. Nowhere is this more important than in the Central Nervous System (CNS), where cellular heterogeneity has profound effects on all aspects of normal brain function and behavior and explains important aspects of disease pathology. With the second edition of the Brain Mosaic conference we aim to bring together leaders in this emerging discipline to discuss how it is advancing our knowledge of CNS function and disease. Speakers at this neuroscience meeting on ‘single cell’ will emphasize the multi-disciplinary nature of the field in several sessions: • Single cell sequencing and cell diversity • Spatial transcriptomics • New developments in technology and bioinformatics • CNS sequencing and relevance to disease research • Connections an activity Poster information: Format: A0 (841 x 1189 mm / 33.1 x 46.8 in), portrait orientation Deadlines: • Early Bird: 8 September 2019 • Late Registration: 26 September 2019 • Abstract deadline: 29 August 2019 2019-10-10 08:00:00 UTC 2019-10-11 18:00:00 UTC VIB Conferences KU Leuven - Promotion & Jubileumzaal, Naamsestraat 22, 22, Naamsestraat, Leuven, Belgium KU Leuven - Promotion & Jubileumzaal, Naamsestraat 22, 22, Naamsestraat Leuven Vlaams-Brabant Belgium 3000 Bioinformatics Transcriptomics Sequencing [] Evy Vierstraete +32 9 244 66 11 conferences@vib.be [] [] meetings_and_conferences [] Single cell sequencing Sequencingcell diversitySpatial transcriptomicsTranscriptomicstranscriptomicsAlzheimers Clinical Trials And StudiesAlzheimers DiseaseAmnesiaAnimal Models In DementiaAnxiety Autoimmune Disorders & Multiple SclerosisBehavioral IssuesBiopsychiatry Blood-Brain BarrierBrain DiagnosisBrain Disease & FailureBrain InjuryBrain TumourCentral Nervous SystemCerebrovascular DiseaseChild NeurologyClinical NeurophysiologyCNS TumorsCognitive DisordersDementiaDementia CareDemyelinationDiagnosis And TherapyEpilepsyGenetics Genetics And Epigenetics Geriatric NeurologyGut- Brain AxisHeadacheIntervention NeuroradiologyMeningitisMental HealthMental Health NursingMetastatisMovement DisordersMultiple SclerosisMultiple Sclerosis DiagnosisNervous SystemNeural EngineeringNeural EnhancementNeuro-Oncology NeuroanaatomyNeuroanatomyNeurocritical CareNeurodegenerationNeurodegenerative DisorderNeurodegenerative DisordersNeurogeneticsNeuroimagingNeuroimmunologyNeurological DisordersNeurological Disorders And StrokeNeurological InfectionsNeurological SurgeryNeurologistNeurologyNeuromedicinesNeuromuscular MedicineNeuronal AutoantibodiesNeuropathyNeuropeptidesNeuropharmacologyNeuroscienceNeurosurgeryNeurotoxicologyNeurotoxinsNeurotransmissionNeurotransmittersParkinsonParkinsons DiseasePediatric NeurologyPharmacology Psychiatry Psychology PsychoneuroimmunologyRecent Research And Case StudiesRehabilitation TherapyStem Cell Treatment For Neurological DisordersStrokesTraumatic Brain InjuryCNS sequencing disease researchbioinformatics• New developments in technology
