  • BBC2017

    13 December - 14 October 2017

    Leuven, Belgium

BBC2017 https://tess.elixir-europe.org/events/bbc2017 The BBC is the key annual event that brings together researchers working at the intersection of a broad range of disciplines including computer science, biology, and medicine in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. Don’t miss the chance to use the power of our network, join the conference by filling in the registration form (“Registration” section). The Benelux Bioinformatics Conference is the primary community event for bioinformatics researchers in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg with excellent networking opportunities. The conference is aimed at both academic and industry researchers. In two days it will feature: Extended keynote presentations on recent breakthroughs in bioinformatics and systems biology Short presentations contributed by the participants and detailing recent advances Extensive poster sessions for informal discussions and networking Flash talks about the posters exposed to make sure you don’t miss a thing Networking social dinner to improve the bonds with your colleagues 2 different workshops to explore and discover new interesting topics 2017-12-13 14:00:00 UTC 2017-10-14 18:00:00 UTC Daniele Parisi, Cedric Lood, Nikolina Šoštarić, Vera Van Noort Leuven, Leuven, Belgium Leuven Leuven Flemish Brabant Belgium 3001 KU Leuven Daniele Parisi daniele.parisi@esat.kuleuven.be Nikolina Šoštarić nikolina.sostaric@kuleuven.be Cédric Lood cedric.lood@kuleuven.be Elixir Belgium PhD studentspostdocsMaster studentsProfessorsResearchers meetings_and_conferences registration_of_interest bioinformaticsComputationalBiology
  • Type 2 Immunity in Homeostasis and Disease

    21 - 22 February 2019

    Brugge, Belgium

Type 2 Immunity in Homeostasis and Disease https://tess.elixir-europe.org/events/type-2-immunity-in-homeostasis-and-disease Type 2 inflammation rich in eosinophils, basophils and mast cells and orchestrated by Th2 lymphocytes has been mainly studied in the context of allergies and immune responses to helminths. Since the discovery of type 2 innate lymphoid cells there has been a strong interest in understanding how type 2 immunity is induced and regulated, for example by barrier epithelial cells. Given the recent introduction of new biologics that target type 2 cytokines to treat severe allergic disease, we are accumulating a lot of new insights on type 2 immune responses in humans as well. This meeting will not only focus on new effector and regulatory mechanisms of the type 2 immune response. It will also offer a number of talks taking a broader look on type 2 immunity, dealing with such topics as type 2 immunity in homeostasis, growth and repair, metabolism, neuro-immune interactions and cancer. Understanding these alternative roles for type 2 immunity will be important to address the benefits and potential pitfalls of long-term inhibition of type 2 immunity by biologicals and could elucidate new therapeutic pathways for very common diseases like asthma, obesity, diabetes and cancer. Abstracts can be submitted for the following topics: Tissue homeostasis and repair Type 2 Neuro-immune axis Type 2 in allergy, asthma & helminth infection Type 2 Immunity & Cancer Deadlines: • Early Bird: 10 January 2019 • Late Registration: 7 February 2019 • Abstract deadline: 19 December 2018 2019-02-21 08:00:00 UTC 2019-02-22 18:00:00 UTC VIB Conferences OLD ST.
