Suppliers can learn about ELIXIR services with a focus on compute, bioinformatics tools, and AI, and exchange technical information relating to their products through scientific presentations or demonstrations. The Forum will be highly interactive with opportunities for informal networking as well as structured discussions and presentations.    SMEs and Startups will have the opportunity to present themselves during a dedicated flash talk session (All presentation slots have been taken. To be added to the waiting list contact katharina.lauer@elixir-europe.org). Aims: Give companies the chance to present technical advances in their field, and receive input on those from ELIXIR Provide a forum for knowledge exchange and collaboration in the pre-competitive space Create networking opportunities with bioinformatics opinion leaders, academic experts in ELIXIR and other industry members Provide a forum to articulate scientific and technical challenges with experts in the field and potentially develop  innovative solutions for e.g. analytics, infrastructure and AI exploitation Location The venue is:  Wellcome Collection Henry Auditorium 183 Euston Road London NW1 2BE The most convenient way to travel is by train to Kings Cross or Euston and walk. Full details on locating the venue can be found on the Wellcome Collection website. • Second ELIXIR-hosted RI-PATHS workshop

    9 May 2019

    Cambridge, United Kingdom

Second ELIXIR-hosted RI-PATHS workshop https://tess.elixir-europe.org/events/second-elixir-hosted-ri-paths-workshop   Towards new ways of documenting network effects in research, innovation and training During the first round of RI-PATHS workshops it became evident that a number of specific impact pathways and mechanisms are especially (albeit not necessarily exclusively) relevant for distributed RIs. Due to their specific set-up these tend to generate particularly strong effects through the networking of diverse knowledge sources and the development of new ways of knowledge diffusion with implications for research, innovation and training. In this area, some distributed RIs have piloted a range of relevant methods of data collection and analysis which can be relevant for various types of RIs, including non-distributed ones. Against this background, this workshop will present and further explore concrete methodologies to collect data on network effects in research, innovation and training, highlight the analytical limits of quantitative methods in this context and explore qualitative approaches which could be applied to tackle the current challenges. Agenda ELIXIR workshop_draft agenda Travel and accommodation Travelling to the workshop: The workshop will take place in the Garden Room, at The Red Lion Whittlesford, 42 Station Road East, Whittlesford Bridge, Cambridge CB22 4NL (UK). By train Whittlesford Parkway is the closest railway station to the meeting, and is on the Cambridge-London Liverpool Street line. The workshop venue is 1 minute walk from Whittlesford Parkway. The journey time from London is approximately one hour, and 15 min from Cambridge Station. By car From the South: Leave the M11 at junction 9 (signed A11 Newmarket) and take the first exit signed A1301 towards Cambridge. From the North: Leave the M11 at junction 10 (note that M11 junction 9 is restricted and only accessible from the South). Accommodation: ELIXIR has blocked a limited number of bedrooms at the Holiday Inn Hotel for the night before the workshop (Wednesday 08 May 2019). The cost is £115 per person per night, and includes breakfast and VAT. There is ample parking, but please note the hotel charges £5 per day. This accommodation is located two minutes walk from the meeting room.
