  • Introduction to the GVL and Galaxy

    7 November 2016

    Melbourne, Australia

Introduction to the GVL and Galaxy https://tess.elixir-europe.org/events/introduction-to-the-gvl-and-galaxy Galaxy is an open source, web-based platform for accessible, reproducible, and transparent computational biomedical research. It allows users without programming experience to easily specify parameters and run individual tools as well as larger workflows. It also captures run information so that any user can repeat and understand a complete computational analysis. This beginners workshop hosted by VLSCI will introduce Galaxy's interface, tool use, histories, and workflows and get new users of the Genomics Virtual Laboratory up and running. This is a hands-on workshop and attendees should bring their own laptops. 2016-11-07 09:00:00 UTC 2016-11-07 00:00:00 UTC VLSCI - University of Melbourne Lab-14, Melbourne, Australia Lab-14 Melbourne Australia Bioinformatics Biomedical science Genomics [] [] [] workshops_and_courses [] ABRVLSCIBioinformatics
  • Advances in Microbial Genomics for Public Health and Clinical Microbiology

    15 November 2016

    Melbourne, Australia

Advances in Microbial Genomics for Public Health and Clinical Microbiology https://tess.elixir-europe.org/events/advances-in-microbial-genomics-for-public-health-and-clinical-microbiology This one-day symposium will critically examine the impact of microbial genomics on public health and clinical microbiology practice overseas and in Australia, and show how this cutting edge technology is helping protect the public from the threat of infectious diseases. Confirmed speakers include international experts Prof Jennifer Gardy from the British Columbia Centre for Disease Control and Dr Phil Ashton from Public Health England, as well as national experts in the fields of applied microbial genomics, epidemiology and antimicrobial resistance that includes Prof Eddie Holmes from the University of Sydney, Prof Darren Trott from the University of Adelaide and Prof Jodie McVernon from the University of Melbourne. The target audiences are researchers, clinicians, epidemiologists, public health professionals and veterinarians. 2016-11-15 09:00:00 UTC 2016-11-15 00:00:00 UTC Doherty Institute for Infection & Immunity Doherty Institute for Infection & Immunity, Melbourne, Australia Doherty Institute for Infection & Immunity Melbourne Australia Genomics Microbiology Bioinformatics [] [] [] meetings_and_conferences [] ClinicalMicrobiologyMicrobiologyInfectiousDiseases
