Psomopoulos Date: 28/01/2020 - 30/01/2020 Location: ATC Computer Training Lab Contents: The missing step between data collection and research progress is a lack of training for researchers in crucial skills for effectively managing and analysing large amounts of data. This hands on workshop teaches researchers the fundamental data skills they need to conduct their work, and provides high-quality, domain-specific training covering the full lifecycle of data-driven research. The domain-specific approach allows participants to tailor the data, content, and tools to reflect the specific data and analysis needs of different areas: - Data organisation and cleaning - Introduction to R - Data analysis and visualisation in R - Interacting with databases from R - Data analysis with applications to genomics Learning goals: You will learn... - how to organise data and some practices for more effective data handling - to effectively clean and format data and automatically track any changes - to use R to handle, filter, and summarise tabular data - to use the split-apply-combine concept for data analysis - to visualise the results of these analyses in R using the ggplot2 library - to apply all of the concepts in an exploratory analysis of a typical biological dataset Prerequisities: The course is aimed at graduate students and other researchers in the life sciences who would like to learn good practices in data management and analysis. The course is ideally suited to students without prior experience in computational research, but some familiarity with working with tabular data on a computer is welcome. • Health-RI Conference 2020

    30 January 2020

    Utrecht, Netherlands

Health-RI Conference 2020 https://tess.elixir-europe.org/events/health-ri-conference-2020 At this year's Health-RI conference, leading experts will highlight how data is helping us to remain healthy, and how it can drive us towards a healthy future. We all want to stay healthy for as long as possible. How do we keep people healthy? When we do get ill, we look for the best treatment - the right treatment at the right time, tailor made. How can we learn from today's patients so that tomorrow's patients get better treatment? It's a matter of continuous learning and improvement - evidence based with the help of enormous amounts of data in different formats and from various sources. We're already learning how to combine that data in clever ways, tailoring it to specific situations and applying it to our everyday health choices. 2020-01-30 09:00:00 UTC 2020-01-30 17:00:00 UTC Health-RI Jaarbeurs Supernova, Utrecht, Utrecht, Netherlands Jaarbeurs Supernova, Utrecht Utrecht Utrecht Netherlands [] [] [] meetings_and_conferences [] FAIRHealthcarepersonalized medicinepersonal health trainArtificial Intelligence
  • Protein Bioinformatics: Sequence-Structure-Function - Dates to be confirmed

    16 - 18 November 2020

    Basel, Switzerland

    Elixir node event
Protein Bioinformatics: Sequence-Structure-Function - Dates to be confirmed https://tess.elixir-europe.org/events/protein-bioinformatics-sequence-structure-function-dates-to-be-confirmed Overview Sequence-structure-function relationships of proteins are central to a comprehensive understanding of cellular biology. However, many proteins lack direct and detailed information regarding structure, function, and complex formation. 2020-11-16 09:00:00 UTC 2020-11-18 00:00:00 UTC SIB, Basel, Switzerland SIB Basel Switzerland [] training@sib.swiss [] Graduate studentsIndustryAcademicsPhDPhD students workshops_and_courses [] []
