    16 - 17 October 2017

    Gent, Belgium

    Elixir node event
Next-Generation Antibodies and Protein Analysis (2nd edition) Next-Generation Antibodies and Protein Analysis (2nd Edition) A VIB TOOLS & TECHNOLOGIES CONFERENCE The Next Generation Antibodies and Protein Analysis: Tools and Technologies meeting (NGAPA) in June 2015 was a great success and we are pleased to announce the 2nd edition in October, 2017. The symposium will bring together some of the most highly regarded Academics and Companies in the world with novel technologies in several sessions, with topics focused on: - Proteomics - Protein Modifications - Single Domain and Recombinant Antibody tools - Next-Generation Affinity Reagents - Interactomics - Bio-sensing and molecular interactions - Single-Cell technologies - Protein design Catalyzed by VIB’s Technology Scouting team, the Tools and Technologies meetings focus on the front end of innovation and bring together key innovators in selected life sciences research fields. The Next-Generation Antibodies and Protein Analysis conference is set to make another world class meeting, bringing together an exciting selection of top speakers and newly emerged companies. In addition to great scientific and technology program, the conference will provide ample networking opportunities. 2017-10-16 09:00:00 UTC 2017-10-17 17:00:00 UTC VIB Gent ICC, Gent, Belgium Gent ICC Gent Oost-Vlaanderen Belgium 9000 Protein interactions Proteomics Protein modifications Protein folding, stability and design [] Absolute Antibody PerkinElmer Abcam BioConnect BioRadGenscriptMerck Macs Miltenyi Biotec ThermoFisher PhD studentsindustryAcademicsPost-Docs meetings_and_conferencesreceptions_and_networking first_come_first_served protein sequence analysisProtein identificationProteinsantibodiesinteractomicsSingle Cell technologies
  • Water Purification Systems for Regulated Industries

    23 - 24 October 2017

    Berlin, Germany

Water Purification Systems for Regulated Industries The course consists of interactive lectures, discussions, and imbedded exercises. Participants will also be placed in several real life situations where they complete a compliance review of a schematic process flow diagram, analyze failures using trend reports, critique a risk assessment, and perform a change control analysis including the impact of requested or proposed modifications. The course is designed to provide the attendee with a practical understanding of the following topics: •Basic water chemistry •Water quality selection criteria •EPA, EU, and WHO drinking water standards •The governing regulatory agencies with direct impact on water systems •Analytical water grades (1, 2, 3) and reagent water types (I, II, III, IV, with A, B & C subgroups) •Pharmacopeia water grades (Purified, Highly Purified, Water for Injection & Clean Steam) •Pretreatment component equipment - selection and operating principals •Final treatment options (reverse osmosis, vapor compression, single-effect and multiple-effect stills) •Opportunities for energy and water resource conservation •Point of use criteria such as temperature, location, time-of-day, and demand (GPM & GPD) •System design including materials of construction, generation, storage and distribution options •Trend reports (analysis, problem identification, predictive value) •Control systems, data historian, secure access, set points and alarms •Managing performance deviations and component failure •Direct and in-direct impact analysis •Quality by design including risk assessment •Instrument calibration for critical, non-critical, and informational only devices •Maintenance impacts to system performance, reliability, and validation •The importance of as-built documentation - user and field directed changes 2017-10-23 09:00:00 UTC 2017-10-24 17:00:00 UTC The Center for Professional Innovation & Education The Berlin Hilton, Berlin, Germany The Berlin Hilton Berlin Germany [] The Center for Professional Innovation & Education Regulatory AffairsQualityComplianceR&DValidationManufacturingMaintenanceEngineering 20 workshops_and_courses first_come_first_served water chemistryWater quality water systemsSystem design Pharmacopeia water grades Control systemsInstrument calibration
  • AM21 Applied Metagenomics

    2 - 5 November 2021

    Oeiras, Portugal

    Elixir node event
AM21 Applied Metagenomics This course will give a comprehensive introduction to the research field of metagenomics. It will cover the basic concepts of microbiome analysis of shotgun metagenomic data using state of the art bioinformatics (amplicon sequencing will not be covered). The analysis methods that are being introduced are generic for all types of microbiomes, but we will be using data from the human microbiome as showcases. The course will start with the main preprocessing steps of raw sequence data, before various downstream analysis will be covered separately. These include taxonomic analysis, assembly, binning, and finally functional analysis with focus on antibiotic resistance genes. The theoretical part for each topic will be introduced via lectures, followed by practical hands-on exercises. 2021-11-02 09:30:00 UTC 2021-11-05 18:00:00 UTC Pedro Fernandes Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência, Oeiras, Portugal Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência Oeiras Oeiras Portugal 2780-156 Metagenomic sequencing Metagenomics IGC - Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência Pedro L.
