  • Data Steward Knowledge and Skills Workshop

    11 - 12 June 2019

    Utrecht, Netherlands

    Elixir node event
Data Steward Knowledge and Skills Workshop https://tess.elixir-europe.org/events/data-steward-knowledge-and-skills-workshop Target audience Data stewards, data managers, policy makers, HR persons, funders and all other stakeholders that are interested to share their expertise in Data Stewardship, want to get updated about the work that is going on, and want to contribute to the next steps that will be taken. Although the main focus is for the Life Sciences domain, our work on the competencies and skills of the data stewards is rather generic and also useful for other disciplines. Therefore participants from other disciplines are very welcome to join. Goal of the meeting In a ZonMw- funded project where we are working on defining the profession, skills and training needs of Data Stewards in the life sciences. All the output of the project produced so far can be found on Zenodo. It is our ambition to produce tangible outputs, that can be used and implemented in the organisations. To achieve these goals it is crucial to get input from the community. In this way we make further steps in defining community-endorsed outcomes and decide together which next steps are needed to improve data stewardship function descriptions, capacity, visibility, recognition and training in the Netherlands. As a data steward, you will meet your peers, expand your network, and will be able to get insight in the current status of Data Stewardship in the Netherlands. 2019-06-11 10:00:00 UTC 2019-06-12 16:00:00 UTC Dutch Techcentre for Life Sciences Holland Heart House (HHH) Building HGB1, second floor Moreelsepark 1, Utrecht, Netherlands Holland Heart House (HHH) Building HGB1, second floor Moreelsepark 1 Utrecht Utrecht Netherlands 3511 EP [] [] [] workshops_and_courses [] []

  • Bioinformatics tools to predict protein properties from sequence

    10 September 2019

    Brussels, Belgium

    Elixir node event
Bioinformatics tools to predict protein properties from sequence https://tess.elixir-europe.org/events/bioinformatics-tools-to-predict-protein-properties-from-sequence In this workshop, we address how to predict features of proteins from their sequence only, using Python scripts to access APIs of web services available online. We will introduce single-sequence based predictions of biophysical characteristics of proteins (e.g. DynaMine for backbone dynamics), methods that use multiple sequence alignments (e.g. I-TASSER), and methods that determine the difference between a protein and its mutant form (e.g. DEOGEN2). We will also show how the results of these predictions can be combined and analysed using a protein case study. 2019-09-10 09:00:00 UTC 2019-09-10 00:00:00 UTC VIB Bioinformatics Core U-Residence Brussels, Brussels, Belgium U-Residence Brussels Brussels Belgium 1050 [] [] [] [] [] []

  • ELIXIR Innovation and SME Forum: Distributed Data Analysis - The (Health) Data Train

    10 - 11 October 2019

    Utrecht, Netherlands

ELIXIR Innovation and SME Forum: Distributed Data Analysis - The (Health) Data Train https://tess.elixir-europe.org/events/elixir-innovation-and-sme-forum-distributed-data-analysis-the-health-data-train The Innovation and SME Forum on 10-11 October with a focus on “distributed data analysis - the (health) data train” in Utrecht is open to researchers working in the data driven life-science sector, large and small companies that develop services for data management and sharing, as well as people involved in national healthcare initiatives and anyone else who is interested in learning more about data-driven innovation in the life-science sector. The concept of distributed data analysis as contained in the FAIR Data Train approach has been endorsed by the Dutch government in a letter to the Dutch Parliament in December 2018. Meanwhile, the Dutch Government is preparing to implement this novel strategy in the Dutch health care information system. This signals the emerging market for FAIR-based distributed analysis approaches beyond the science domain. The ELIXIR-NL public-private network is closely involved in specification and implementation.      This event contains a mix of high-level keynote speakers and interactive sessions to discuss and interact with other companies and ELIXIR partners. A specific session with Flash Talks, will give SMEs and Start-Ups the chance to introduce their work to a broad audience. This event is a collaborative effort, organised by ELIXIR Netherlands (DTL) in collaboration with several DTL SME partners. More generally, the event aims to inform about ELIXIR resources and create a space to network for industry and academia.   What people think about previous events: "The ELIXIR Innovation and SME Forum was a great opportunity for us to interact with ELIXIR and also other SME organisations to share ideas and better understand how ELIXIR together with small and large companies can help bridging the "digital islands" of information and provide true value for life science stakeholders, researchers and in the ned, the patients." - Henrik Plym-Forshell, BC Platforms, Sweden     2019-10-10 09:00:00 UTC 2019-10-11 00:00:00 UTC Jongerius Kantoor - Villa Jongerius, Utrecht, Netherlands Jongerius Kantoor - Villa Jongerius Utrecht Netherlands 3527 [] [] [] [] [] []

    30 January 2020

    Utrecht, Netherlands

Health-RI Conference 2020 https://tess.elixir-europe.org/events/health-ri-conference-2020 At this year's Health-RI conference, leading experts will highlight how data is helping us to remain healthy, and how it can drive us towards a healthy future. We all want to stay healthy for as long as possible. How do we keep people healthy? When we do get ill, we look for the best treatment - the right treatment at the right time, tailor made. How can we learn from today's patients so that tomorrow's patients get better treatment? It's a matter of continuous learning and improvement - evidence based with the help of enormous amounts of data in different formats and from various sources. We're already learning how to combine that data in clever ways, tailoring it to specific situations and applying it to our everyday health choices. 2020-01-30 09:00:00 UTC 2020-01-30 17:00:00 UTC Health-RI Jaarbeurs Supernova, Utrecht, Utrecht, Netherlands Jaarbeurs Supernova, Utrecht Utrecht Utrecht Netherlands [] [] [] meetings_and_conferences [] FAIRHealthcarepersonalized medicinepersonal health trainArtificial Intelligence
