  • OpenRiskNet/NanoCommons ontology meeting

    13 - 14 December 2018

    Brussels, Belgium

OpenRiskNet/NanoCommons ontology meeting https://tess.elixir-europe.org/events/openrisknet-nanocommons-ontology-meeting The goal of this meeting is to get a picture of the ongoing ontology activities in the toxicology area, harmonize these efforts and the developed ontologies therein, and extend the existing toxicology ontology to support OpenRiskNet and NanoCommons tasks. Part of this will be the ontological annotation of OpenRiskNet Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) as used on their cloud. Other goals include extension of the ontology with missing terms (if any), potentially write up guidance documents, and annotation of data sets (possible via OpenRiskNet data APIs). 2018-12-13 13:00:00 UTC 2018-12-14 14:00:00 UTC University of Birmingham office in Brussels, Brussels, Belgium University of Birmingham office in Brussels Brussels Belgium Ontology and terminology Toxicology [] NanoCommonsOpenRiskNetH2020 [] workshops_and_courses [] risk assessmentnanosafetydata annotationservice descriptions

  • Tech Transfer Course

    26 - 30 August 2019

    Zwijnaarde, Belgium

    Elixir node event
Tech Transfer Course https://tess.elixir-europe.org/events/tech-transfer-course In short, the technology transfer course is designed to give you an idea of: How to find out if patents exist around your new findings; What steps are necessary to commercialize your work; The VIB-approach to starting innovative companies, and How research can be turned into value for society. In the annual Technology Transfer course, the VIB Innovation & Business Team, supported by external speakers from industry, will go into detail on the practicalities of making technology transfer happen. We will discuss the basics of Intellectual Property Rights, including a hands-on patent search on your favorite topic. We will go through the term sheets and contracts that shape the framework of industrial collaborations and investments. We will have a lively case study to highlight the potentially complex relationships between scientist, TT-officer and company representative, and give an overview of the various stages of starting a new venture. If you want to participate, we ask you to submit a short abstract on a potential business idea, describing briefly the concept and potential applications. More information will follow when we receive your registration.   2019-08-26 09:00:00 UTC 2019-08-30 00:00:00 UTC VIB Bioinformatics Core Bio-Accelerator Meeting Center Ghent, Zwijnaarde, Belgium Bio-Accelerator Meeting Center Ghent Zwijnaarde Belgium 9052 [] [] [] [] [] []
  • Bioinformatics tools to predict protein properties from sequence

    10 September 2019

    Brussels, Belgium

    Elixir node event
Bioinformatics tools to predict protein properties from sequence https://tess.elixir-europe.org/events/bioinformatics-tools-to-predict-protein-properties-from-sequence In this workshop, we address how to predict features of proteins from their sequence only, using Python scripts to access APIs of web services available online. We will introduce single-sequence based predictions of biophysical characteristics of proteins (e.g. DynaMine for backbone dynamics), methods that use multiple sequence alignments (e.g. I-TASSER), and methods that determine the difference between a protein and its mutant form (e.g. DEOGEN2). We will also show how the results of these predictions can be combined and analysed using a protein case study. 2019-09-10 09:00:00 UTC 2019-09-10 00:00:00 UTC VIB Bioinformatics Core U-Residence Brussels, Brussels, Belgium U-Residence Brussels Brussels Belgium 1050 [] [] [] [] [] []
