Introduction to tidyverse R in Antwerp
21 February 2018
Antwerp, BelgiumIntroduction to tidyverse R in Antwerp http://www.vib.be/en/training/research-training/courses/Pages/Elixir-tidyverse-Intro-Feb2018-Antwerp.aspx https://tess.elixir-europe.org/events/introduction-to-tidyverse The use of R in the data science field has increased enormously in the last few years. One very useful toolkit for a wide variety of analyses is the ‘tidyverse’: a collection of R-packages used for data manipulation, exploration and visualisation that share a common design philosophy. Tidyverse packages are intended to make statisticians and data scientists more productive by guiding them through workflows that facilitate communication, and result in reproducible work products. This is a four hour workshop, were you will learn: The difference between tidy and untidy data How to create tidy datasets and manipulate them using the main tidyr and dplyr verbs Integrate data visualization into your workflow using ggplot2 Use tidyverse functions to research biological problems 2018-02-21 14:00:00 UTC 2018-02-21 18:00:00 UTC VIB Bioinformatics Core Campus Middelheim (CMI), building G, room G.005, Antwerp, Belgium Campus Middelheim (CMI), building G, room G.005 Antwerp Belgium 2020

Bioinformatics tools to predict protein properties from sequence
10 September 2019
Brussels, BelgiumBioinformatics tools to predict protein properties from sequence https://training.vib.be/product/115 https://tess.elixir-europe.org/events/bioinformatics-tools-to-predict-protein-properties-from-sequence In this workshop, we address how to predict features of proteins from their sequence only, using Python scripts to access APIs of web services available online. We will introduce single-sequence based predictions of biophysical characteristics of proteins (e.g. DynaMine for backbone dynamics), methods that use multiple sequence alignments (e.g. I-TASSER), and methods that determine the difference between a protein and its mutant form (e.g. DEOGEN2). We will also show how the results of these predictions can be combined and analysed using a protein case study. 2019-09-10 09:00:00 UTC 2019-09-10 00:00:00 UTC VIB Bioinformatics Core U-Residence Brussels, Brussels, Belgium U-Residence Brussels Brussels Belgium 1050
